Dwyer Middle School Principal Dr. Christa Glembocki, alongside ASB student leaders and PTA President Starla Edwards, presented the school report spotlighting the Journey for Good volunteer program. This initiative encourages students to make meaningful contributions to their community by dedicating time to volunteer efforts. The program teaches the value of giving back and celebrates students’ achievements—offering recognition and special accolades for those who complete 25 hours of service. Through Journey for Good, Dwyer Middle School fosters a culture of empathy and community spirit, empowering students to become active, compassionate citizens.
Memorandum Of Understanding With WestEd To Conduct The California Healthy Kids (CHKS) Survey

The Board approved a partnership with WestEd to administer the California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) to students in grades 5 and 7 and staff. This confidential survey provides insights into physical activity, nutrition, school safety, and student well-being, directly informing program planning and supporting the District’s Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) goals. Before the survey administration in February 2025, parents and students will receive communication, including information on the survey process, parent consent requirements, and links to sample questions.
Employment Contract for Assistant Superintendent, Administrative Services

The Board approved the employment contract for the new Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services, with a term from January 2, 2025, to June 30, 2027. ​​The Huntington District is pleased to announce Mr. Gary Stine as its new Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services. With over 22 years of experience in educational administration, Mr. Stine brings a wealth of expertise to this role. He will oversee the District’s business services, which encompass budget development, facilities management, transportation, food services, payroll, and compliance, among other areas. Mr. Stine will also advise on negotiations and ensure District practices align with HBCSD’s goals for operational excellence and student success (read the full news release).
Tentative Collective Bargaining Agreement with HBETA

The Board approved the tentative collective bargaining agreement with the Huntington Beach Elementary Teachers Association (HBETA) for the 2024-25 school year, effective July 1, 2024. HBETA has ratified the agreement, including updates to its terms and salary (a 3.0% increase totaling $968,912) and a memorandum on class size reduction, with an estimated cost of $695,482.
